Advocate Profile
Seema Bali
Seema Bali is an educator with over three decades of experience and currently serves as the Principal at the Trio World School in Bangalore. She is deeply committed to student wellbeing, particularly the mental health of school children. To foster a culture of empathy and emotional safety, she established a Wellness Club in her school with two Wellness Ambassadors from each class. This student-led initiative promotes peer support, emotional awareness, and early identification of mental health concerns, creating a safe space for students and offering a practical model for schools to address wellbeing proactively.
Her advocacy journey has been profoundly shaped by her lived experience as the primary caregiver to her husband living with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Navigating the emotional and systemic challenges of chronic illness gave her a deep understanding of the realities faced by patients and caregivers. This experience inspired her to raise her voice for stronger patient representation, greater awareness of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), and more compassionate and responsive health systems.
Seema serves as a member of Our Views, Our Voices Global Advisory Committee, is a Board Member of the Healthy India Alliance, and advocates for policies that protect public health. Through these roles, she amplifies the voices of people living with chronic conditions and promotes prevention and equitable access to care.
A strong advocate for climate action and climate justice, Seema also speaks about the urgent need to address the growing air pollution crisis and its impact on health, particularly its links with NCDs. Associated with The Climate Reality Project India, she has conducted over 250 Green Campus workshops, empowering more than 20,000 young people to become active “actors of change.”
Through her work at the intersection of education, health, and climate action, Seema Bali hopes to inspire communities and young leaders to build healthier environments, advocate for cleaner air, and create a more compassionate and sustainable future.
Equitable NCD care must place patients and caregivers at the centre of health systems. We need stronger, more responsive healthcare systems that ensure early diagnosis, affordable treatment, and long-term support for families living with chronic conditions. Recognizing and supporting caregivers, while building resilient and inclusive health systems, is essential to achieving true health equity.
